Financial Aid Might Be Available If You’re A Victim Of A Violent Crime

Violent crime are recently grabbing the headlines of news outlets all over the nation, but what many people do not know is that trauma may equal financial assistance for some victims.

A program that is not often utilised offers victims of crime thousands of dollars, reports Julie Nauman, the Executive Officer at the California Victim Compensation Board (CalVCB)

“No one ever expects to be a victim of crime, but when it happens, we want them to know that we’re here to help,” said Nauman. “Our primary mission is to provide assistance to victims of violent crime.”

Nauman manages a program created by the government to help victims financially. CalVCB was established as a joint federal and state program, and

Violent crime seems to be grabbing headlines across the country, but what you might not know is that the trauma for victims can also be financial.

An underutilized program offers crime victims tens of thousands of dollars, according to Julie Nauman, Executive Officer of the California Victim Compensation Board, or CalVCB.

“No one ever expects to be a victim of crime, but when it happens, we want them to know that we’re here to help,” she said. “Our primary mission is to provide assistance to victims of violent crime.”

Investigator | Prosecutors want death row inmate back behind bars for violent murder and rape – WKYC

Marty Flynn still remembers the silence…33 years later. The eerie silence belied the horror waiting inside an old Brooklyn duplex.

“I walked upstairs and looked in her room and found her on her bed.” It was his sister.

The scene was disturbing. Mary Anne Flynn, a 33-year-old nurse, was raped and strangled.

Cleveland Police quickly focused on neighbor Tony Apanovitch, a roughneck drinker with a sordid past of sex offenses. He once painted Flynn’s home, but she feared him.

But despite a bloody crime scene, there was no physical evidence…not yet anyway.

“Anthony Apanovitch is a violent killer and rapist,” says Cuyahoga County Prosecutor Michael O’Malley. “I have no doubt whatsoever about that.”

O’Malley says Apanovitch had already been convicted of forcibly raping a 16-year-old in 1976. But the conviction was reversed and he pleaded guilty to sexual battery.

Athens man had 2016 violent run-in with prison escapee’s Ghostface Gangsters

A prison-based white supremacist gang this week was in the news after one of its purported members from Madison County made an escape from a prison bus in which two corrections officers were killed.

The criminal organization known as the Ghostface Gangsters was already known to police in Athens, who in September 2016 investigated a report that members of that gang allegedly stabbed another man in a brutal assault inside a home in a neighborhood off Commerce road.

The escaped inmate and purported gang member, 24-year-old Ricky Alan Dubose of Comer, had been well known to law enforcement officials in the Athens metro area due to his criminal behavior that began when he was a juvenile. Dubose was serving a 20-year prison sentence for convictions in Elbert County on charges of armed robbery, aggravated assault and theft by taking in 2014.

The Tragedy of Dakota James Murder and Overlooking Other Violent Epidemics

However, the relentless speculation by OTHER people about serial killers is a disservice to those struggling with real epidemics. Insisting that the coroner, the police, and the Mayor are covering up some key piece of information that will make sense of this senseless tragedy is not helpful to anyone, least of all the bereaved. I’ve been on the receiving end of a lot of insistence for months, mostly wild speculation based on facts that have nothing to do with one another. And that fierce determination that something is amiss overlooks what really is amiss.
