Eight police officers whose investigation led to the jailing of a ‘savage’ town centre rapist have received a top honour.
Staffordshire Police have issued commendations to the officers involved in the conviction of 21-year-old Jack Purves following last February’s sex attack.
Police called to Newcastle town centre discovered the woman had been knocked out and suffered nasty injuries and was so distressed she could not describe her attacker.
But they searched for clues while supporting the victim and discovered the bloodied rapist acting suspiciously near the town’s former Maxims nightclub.
