Families frustrated by delays that could free accused killer

For 10 long years, Eileen Mohan has hoped and prayed for justice for her murdered son Christopher.

He was 22 when he was dragged into a penthouse apartment across the hall from his family’s home and killed with five others in what became known as the Surrey Six murders.

Ed Schellenberg, also a bystander, was servicing the fireplace in suite 1505 at the Balmoral when he got caught in the slaughter that Friday afternoon. The others who died were young men involved in the drug trade — brothers Corey and Michael Lal, Ryan Bartolomeo and Eddie Narong.

Mohan says her life stopped on Oct. 19, 2007, when she lost her only son.

“Only I understand what it is like to go home every single day to a silent home that used to be filled with love, laughter, food, everything. The one thing I miss most is being called Mom, she said this week as she

Couple’s split fed killer’s anger: Picture emergesof what led up to Plano mass murder

On Tuesday, a picture began to emerge of how their lives had become intertwined and then unraveled.

When Spencer crashed Meredith’s football watch party, he turned the gun on some of his own friends, including 31-year-old Rion Morgan, who had stood by him when he said “I do” to Meredith.

An officer who responded to the attack fatally shot Spencer, 32.

Spencer’s other victims were Anthony “Tony” Cross, 33; Olivia Deffner, 24; James Dunlop, 29; Darryl William Hawkins, 22; Myah Bass, 28; and Caleb Edwards, 25. A ninth victim, who hadn’t been named, remained hospitalized.

Police combed the crime scene Tuesday as yellow tape fluttered in the breeze. Two days earlier, Meredith’s neighbors had seen her friends grilling and heard their laughter.

It all stopped with gunfire — the unimaginable end to a marriage sealed on a sunny day under a canopy of trees in Jamaica.

Fire, chemistry

Meredith’s mother, Debbie Lane, said the couple had met

Accused triple killer a ‘failure and coward,’ Crown says in closing

Ian Bush is a failure and coward who attempted to rewrite his own sorry history by tying up and murdering three people, a Crown prosecutor alleged in his closing arguments to a jury Monday.

Bush is on trial for three counts of first-degree murder in the slayings of retired tax court judge Alban Garon, his wife, Raymonde Garon, both 77, and their neighbour Marie-Claire Beniskos, 78. The three seniors were killed in the Garons luxury condominium on Riverside Drive on June 29, 2007.

In his closing address to a jury, prosecutor James Cavanagh argued that the accused killer was disgraced and humiliated in front of his family when it was revealed he owed his mother $60,000. Bush was angry at Revenue Canada for holding back money he thought he was owed when he decided to lash out at those he held responsible, said Cavanagh.
