Police Investigating Murder Of 97-Year-Old Man

BALTIMORE (WJZ) — Baltimore tallies yet another murder overnight Saturday. This time, a 97-year-old man was left for dead in his east Baltimore home.

Devin Bartolotta has more on how it happened, and what his family is saying in the aftermath.

Police are calling on neighbors to help catch a killer.

The 1700 block of Darley Avenue was always home for 97-year-old Waddell Tate.

“He lived in this neighborhood, everybody knew him. Quiet, mild tempered, he lost his wife several years ago. But he decided to just live here,” says Deborah Broom.

But his home became a horrific crime scene Friday evening, when family found him dead — beaten to death, police say, by an unknown attacker — who appears to have broken in.

Police aren’t sure if this was a robbery or if anything was taken from the home, but did not mince words when talking about the attacker.

Police reportedly investigating man’s death as suspicious

PENNSAUKEN TWP. — Police who found a man’s body inside township home are reportedly investigating it as a suspicious death.

Police told 6abc that they suspect foul play in the death.

They discovered the body around 9:20 p.m. Monday after a person flagged an officer down outside the home, the news station reported.

Police had left the scene at 6004 Mansion Blvd. by 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, but a van from Aftermath LLC, a crime scene and death clean-up company, was parked in the driveway.

Numerous individuals who identified themselves as the man’s family arrived at the house but declined to comment. They met with the clean-up crew, examining the broken glass in the house’s front door.

A neighbor on Frostoffer Avenue said that police woke him up around 3 a.m. to ask him if a yellow stake in his yard belonged to him. He said he confirmed it and asked an officer why the officers were clustered
