‘It can make a gruesome mess’: Crime scene cleaner on what it’s like …

A crime scene cleaner has opened up about the gruesome scenes they witness when called to deal with the aftermath death.

Family members and landlords are often left to clean up after a body has been removed, no matter how gruesome or disturbing the aftermath is.

That’s when crime scene cleaning specialists like George Mensah are called in to restore some order and dignity to proceedings.

George, who runs Merseyside House Clearance, has dealt with decaying bodies, swarms of flies, dismembered fingers and even sex dungeons through his work, but sees it all as just part of his “recession proof” job.

Death, decay and sex dungeons: Confessions of a crime scene cleaner

Long after the police have left a crime scene, and while a grieving family is still reeling from the death of a loved one, there is a big job that still needs to be done.

The clean up.

You see once the body is taken away a lot of people think it is the police or the council’s job to clean up – it isn’t.

Often relatives or landlords are left to deal with the aftermath of a death – violent or otherwise.

That is when they call George Mensah, a crime scene cleaner who specialises in dealing with the mess left behind in a dignified fashion.

He said: “We get the call, we don’t know what it is or where we are going – but it is never easy.

“It is even worse if people die naturally at home, because it becomes their family or landlords job to deal with what

‘I started dry retching’: the harrowing world of a trauma cleaner

Dorothy’s front door wouldn’t open. So they took it off its hinges.

“[We] were confronted immediately by a wall of garbage, decades upon decades of accumulated detritus,” says Sarah Krasnostein, author of The Trauma Cleaner. Dorothy’s impenetrable house was in a wealthy suburb, not far from a cafe that made raw almond milk. Krasnostein had arrived there with Sandra Pankhurst, the 63-year-old owner and operator of Specialised Trauma Cleaning Services.

“The floor wasn’t the floor, it started three or four feet up the wall, and through her rooms was the solid glacial mass of garbage fused together.”

In the four years Krasnostein spent writing and researching her book, she trailed Pankhurst to more than 20 grotesque and garbage-filled sites in suburban Melbourne. “People think ‘cleaning’ and that you need a bucket of water and a cloth,” Pankhurst told her as they stood together in the midst of Dorothy’s house. “We need

Game review: Serial Cleaner – crime-scene clean-up concept is great, but like all bad stealth games, it’s repetitive

Serial Cleaner

Curve Digital

3/5 stars

A great idea can be sometimes easy to come by. Great execution, on the other hand, can often be a little harder. You probably know people who believe their genius plans are going to take the world by storm, but in fact their ideas rarely bear fruit.

Game review: escape a communist hellhole in Black the Fall

Serial Cleaner (available for PC and PS4) probably should not have gone further than a late night light-bulb moment. In the game you are a professional cleaner – one of those guys in hitman movies who do the dirty work once all the killing’s done. The crime scene clean-up concept’s great, but it sounds better than it actually is.

The gameplay is classic stealth, following the old school Metal Gear Solid formula of evading the fuzz while hiding dead bodies. On those rare occasions that it works well, Serial Cleaner stands

Serial Cleaner for Xbox One review: A blood-splattered stealth puzzler that’s well worth $15

Serial Cleaner is one of those rare titles that show up every now and then and do something unique.

In Serial Cleaner, your job isn’t to run around shooting villains or being a gangster. Instead, it’s your job to clean up the mess after various scenes of carnage have already unfolded.

Working for various shady characters, Bob “The Cleaner” Leaner travels from hit to hit, steam cleaner in hand, removing evidence, mopping up blood, and disposing of dead bodies. Serial Cleaner is certainly among the most unique games I’ve played so far on Xbox One, but is this stealth ’em up worth $15, or is it taking you to the cleaners?
