Accused Parkland Shooter Charged With 17 Counts Of Murder: Update

PARKLAND, FL — As investigators attempt to make sense of Wednesday’s mass shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Nikolas Jacob Cruz has been formally charged with 17 counts of premeditated murder, according to the Broward County Sheriff’s Office.

Seventeen people were shot to death and numerous others injured Wednesday after Cruz, a former student who was expelled last year, allegedly opened fire marking a horrific and sadly familiar episode of school violence, according to law enforcement and school officials.

Lori Alhadeff, the mother of a 14-year-old girl, who was killed in the attack, was trying to make sense of the tragedy on Thursday as she pleaded on CNN for President Trump to take action.

“How do we allow a gunman to come into our children’s school? How do they get through security? What security is there? There’s no metal detectors,” she said, issuing her plea directly into the

Before being charged in Richardson cop’s death, gunman and 2nd victim were roommates, friends

Lithmexay, Gamez’s friend of 10 years, found out about the shooting while at work Thursday morning.

He’d been at the apartment just a few months ago, grilling meat and vegetables on a hot plate, for a “Friendsgiving” dinner that Gamez and his mother hosted.

“He was funny, he was caring,” Lithmexay said. “He was just always there for people.”

Maria Moncada, a bartender at Wizards Sports Café, said McCall and Gamez were always together. They visited the bar once or twice a week. Surrounded by other friends, they’d play pool and knock back Miller Lites.

Gamez was the bubbly one, laughing and making jokes. McCall was quiet, calm.

“They just evened each other out,” Moncada said.

She stopped seeing the pair about a year ago.

But the regulars at Wizards haven’t forgotten about them. The news about the shooting trickled into the bar Wednesday night, leaving Moncada and others shocked and confused.

“That’s the scary part,” she

Chesapeake man charged with shooting friend in face didn’t know how to handle a gun, defense says – Virginian

CHESAPEAKE

The shotgun was always there.

Jaonta Wyche and Juan Perry, along with two other roommates, always played with it, detectives said in court Wednesday morning. But Perry said it never contained bullets, the detectives said.

Until April 29.

The four young men who lived in the South Norfolk home were in the bedroom that day, talking and playing video games. Wyche and Perry were playing with the gun, and Wyche cocked it and placed it on the bed, detectives said.

Perry then picked up the gun, with the barrel tilted toward Wyche, and tried to cock it again. Wyche told Perry he had to pull the trigger before cocking it again, so Perry did just that.

The gun then went off, killing Wyche.

The detectives testified during Perry’s preliminary hearing in General District Court on Wednesday. Perry, 20, who is charged with involuntary manslaughter, is out on bond and has been going to counseling.

Judge Robert MacDonald

News of the Week: Man charged in double slaying – Glens Falls Post

GLENS FALLS — Police have charged Bryan M. Redden, 21, with killing a young mother and her daughter and the investigation is working to figure out why he would have committed the brutal murders.

Authorities said Redden did not offer an explanation for the attack that left Crystal Riley, 33, and her 4-year-old daughter Lilly Frasier dead with knife wounds in their apartment at 148 South St.

Redden was located around noon on Aug. 11, driving Riley’s vehicle in Glens Falls about 90 minutes after a relative of Riley’s discovered the horrific crime scene, police said.

Authorities said Redden was interviewed and provided investigators with a detailed statement that was part of the evidence that led to him being charged.

Police said Redden did not volunteer much about the nature of his relationship with Riley, or why he was at her home at about 6:30 a.m. Friday, which is when police believe the homicides
