News of the Week: Man charged in double slaying – Glens Falls Post

GLENS FALLS — Police have charged Bryan M. Redden, 21, with killing a young mother and her daughter and the investigation is working to figure out why he would have committed the brutal murders.

Authorities said Redden did not offer an explanation for the attack that left Crystal Riley, 33, and her 4-year-old daughter Lilly Frasier dead with knife wounds in their apartment at 148 South St.

Redden was located around noon on Aug. 11, driving Riley’s vehicle in Glens Falls about 90 minutes after a relative of Riley’s discovered the horrific crime scene, police said.

Authorities said Redden was interviewed and provided investigators with a detailed statement that was part of the evidence that led to him being charged.

Police said Redden did not volunteer much about the nature of his relationship with Riley, or why he was at her home at about 6:30 a.m. Friday, which is when police believe the homicides

4 charged in disabled boy’s death face new charges

TERRE HAUTE — Four people charged in a 9-year-old Indiana boy’s starvation death now face additional charges after an autopsy found methamphetamine in his system.

Cameron Hoopingarner’s two guardians and two other people originally were charged with neglect of a dependent resulting in death and other counts.

But prosecutors filed additional drug-related charges against them Monday after test results found the boy, who had cerebral palsy, had meth in his system.

Forensic pathologist Dr. Roland Kohr tells the Tribune-Star (http://bit.ly/2nbwTcV ) the drug entered the boy’s system as it was used by the people who “were supposed to be caring for him.”

Hoopingarner weighed only 15 pounds when officers found the dying boy Feb. 21 at a home near Fontanet, about 60 miles west of Indianapolis.

An autopsy determined he died of starvation.

Vallejo man charged in deadly Fairfield mall attack to stand trial

FAIRFIELD — A 20-year-old Vallejo man accused of a pair of savage attacks on two women, one in Vallejo and a fatal attack a day later in Fairfield, was ordered Thursday to stand trial on murder, attempted murder and robbery charges.

The ruling came after three days of prosecution evidence and witnesses.

William D. King has pleaded not guilty to the charges. Judge Wendy G. Getty ordered King to return to court March 2 to be arraigned. The charges are accompanied by enhancements alleging King committed a murder during a robbery and was lying in wait, which make him eligible for the death penalty.

King continued to act detached and silent throughout the third day of testimony.

The first attack was the morning of Feb. 2, 2016, at a Wells Fargo bank parking lot in Vallejo. A woman was struck in the head as many as 15 times with a claw hammer with her
