Police say murder suspect admitted to beating man with table leg, paint cans

KALAMAZOO, MI — The man accused of killing 69-year-old William Gray told police he choked him, then used a table leg and paint cans to beat him to death, police say.

Shanadore Rice, 34, of South Haven, has been arraigned on one count of open murder in the Dec. 29, 2017, death of William Henry Gray.

Police responded to Gray’s home in the 1200 block of North Rose Street in Kalamazoo Dec. 30 after they received information Gray had been killed in the home, a Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety detective said during a probable cause hearing Jan. 15 in Kalamazoo County District Court.
