LIMERICK PA – Limerick’s Police Department could win a grant of up to $5,000 to support its K-9 unit, but it needs the public’s help.

The department is a nominee in the annual Aftermath K-9 Grant Contest sponsored by Aftermath Services, a nationwide crime scene clean-up and biohazard remediation company headquartered in Aurora IL. It annually presents five grants totaling $15,000 to police K-9 efforts across the country. They money can be used to create a unit, acquire dogs, buy or maintain safety equipment, or train officers.

Public votes for the nominees help them win grants, and that’s where public supporters of the department can step in. It’s asking area residents to visit Aftermath’s website, here, daily though Nov. 7, and cast a vote for Limerick police. The more votes the department receives, the better its chance
